Every year we have training input from professional outsiders, as well as on-going training as part of our practices.

Near the beginning of the academic year, we have a day's training. Over the years we have been led by the late Dr Mary Berry CBE, the renowned Gregorian Chant expert, Philip Duffy, former Director of Music at Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral, and Nick Gale, Director of Music at St George's Cathedral Southwark.
Last year this took place at St Birinus, Dorchester on Thames, where we end the day by accompanying a Requiem Mass; we plan to do this again in 2011.
Members of the Schola are also able to attend, for free, a three-day Gregorian Chant course at the Oratory School over the Easter Vacation. Last year this was led by Colin Mawby, the well-known composer and former Director of Music at Westminster Cathedral. This course is organised by the Gregorian Chant Network, of which the OUGCS is a founder member.
